Indore, Nov 11: Though the real Dhartipakad is no more. There are many such people of his hues who are in electoral fray giving a colour to the electoral battle.

One such 'Dhartipakad' Ajit Kumar Patwa Jain in Indore constituency, who was neither the member of any political party nor had any supporter, contested every poll from civic body elections to Lok Sabha as an independent since 1980.

''I never procure more than 250 votes but supprisingly once I appealed people not to cast vote in my favour I garnered 6000 votes,'' Mr Patwa told UNI, adding he also contested against Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan sixth times.

Pointing out his aim for contesting the polls incessantly, he said he wanted to express the people to not cast votes in favour of idle and good-for-nothing candidates and voters must elect any good deserving candidate in democracy who could sort out their problems.

Mr Patwa is a Mangalsutra designer by profession.

A Gwalior-resident cloth merchant Madanlal Dharatipakad, who passed away recently, was the only one person in the country who contested the electoral fray from municipal councilor to the President. But due to some directives and strict conditions of Election Commission a ban was imposed on him for contesting any polls.
