Anni: No royal treatment, not to stay in Rashtrapati Bahawan

Male, Nov 11 (UNI) The people of Maldives today rejoiced over the swearing- in of Mohammad Nashid ' Anni' as the new President of the Maldives, a man who had borne the burnt of politics and with a thumping majority defeated Mammoon Abdul Gayoom, a man who had ruled the island nation for over 30 years, maximum in Asia.

People on the streets shouted slogans ''aane devayhi raj'' meaning ''New nation'' the responsibility of which has been bestowed upon their President Mohammad Nashid.

'Anni' has taken the charge to address the problems of people which have acquired a huge proportion. Top priority ones are better health care, a check on drug-trafficking and problems of the island arising due to global warming.

Soon taking over as the President, he has started to work upon the rehabilitation of the displaced people due to global warming.

The water level rising 3.3 feet because of this might engulf some parts of the island nation which might be difficult to re-establish.

Experts warn that due to rising water level,the coral island might submerge.

Not only this President Nashid has decided not to stay in the Presidents's house. An ordinary house is being found for him. The President wants that the President's House be converted into a University.

Having gone through the traumatic experience of being behind the bars as a political convict, the President says there would be no Political prisoners now as the hearing of all the cases would be started soon.
