Advocates debar ex-IPS officer from addressing function
Coimbatore, Nov 11 (UNI) A section of Coimbatore Bar Association (CBA) Members sent back former police officer Kiran Bedi when she came to address an interactive programme organised by the other Association in the integrated court complex here this afternoon.
A section of advocates have formed a new association named Coimbatore Advocates Association (CAA) after leaving the 126 year-old Coimbatore Bar Association.
The CAA had organised a talk programme on ''Indian Domestic Violence'' in which Ms Kiran Bedi was invited. But, some of the Bar Association members were observing one-day fast since this morning at the court complex, urging unity among the advocates and had urged CAA members to cancel the programme.
But, CAA members organised the function and Ms Bedi came to participate in it. The agitating advocates shouted slogan against her and asked to return.
However, the function was organised later in another private club auditorium and went on well.
