Sudharani demands quota in govt jobs for Fine Arts students
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 10 (UNI) Popular dancer Sudharani Raghupathy has urged that the Centre and Tamil Nadu government must introduce special quota in jobs for students of fine arts to motivate youths to study courses in ancient art forms, thereby preserving and promoting India's rich cultural heritage.
Speaking on the sidelines of an interface programme with the students of 'Nartana Academy of Fine Arts' here, she said lack of placement opportunities was one of the major bottlenecks which discouraged youths from taking to fine arts.
An exclusive quota in jobs should be introduced to attract youths to learn our fine arts, on the lines of the one available for sportspersons, she demanded.
She said special efforts should be made to motivate children to learn our classical dances and music, instrumental or vocal. Fine Arts clubs should be set up in every school, and at least 25 marks awarded to those who learn them.
