Shoaib Malik says team united under his command

By Staff

Karachi, Nov 10 : Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has said that his entire team was united under his command ahead of the forthcoming ODI series against West Indies, from November 12-16.

He looked buoyed by fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's return in the team.

"We are completely united and the boys are eager to take the field against the West Indies. Shoaib is once again bowling at a good pace and his return will surely inspire the younger boys in the side," The News quoted Malik as saying.

Malik's comments over team unity appeared after reports emerging that some of the senior players had openly expressed their displeasure over the captain's handling of sensitive matters.

Another blow to Malik's reputation as captain came last week when senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf alleged that Malik's disrespectful treatment towards him was one of the major reasons why he joined the unofficial Indian Cricket League (ICL).

Such reports forced the new team management to tackle this thorny issue and a special meeting was held to provide the players a chance to spell out their problems.

After the team meeting, Pakistan's new coach Intikhab Alam said that the differences among some of his players were of minor nature and the team is now gelling into a solid unit.
