Kolhapur, Nov 10 (UNI) The Shiv Sena-sponsored 'Shirol tehsil town' bandh to protest police action against agitating activists, demanding better price for sugarcane farmers, evoked a good response today.
The activists of Shiv Sena and Shetakari Sanghatana Sangli stopped a tractor trolley, carrying sugarcane for crushing in Datta Co-operative sugar factory from Arjunwadi village last evening, police said today.
Agitating activists also punctured a tyre of a tractor trolley.
Police detained some activists for violating prohibitory orders.
Shiv Sena Shirol tehsil chief Madhukar Patil was also detained by police.
The Bandh passed off peacefulfully, police said adding 15 activists were released on bail later in the day.
