Sarangi Mahajan refuses operation till Praveen gets parole
Mumbai, Nov 10 (UNI) Sarangi Mahajan, wife of Praveen Mahajan who was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his brother and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, has refused to undergo an operation till her husband is released on parole by the Nashik Jail authorities.
According to sources, Praveen had applied for a parole of 30 days to enable him to look after his wife during an operation suggested by the doctors. However, his application was rejected as the local Worli police had submitted a report stating his release will create law and order problem and he may threaten the family members of Parmod Mahajan.
Sarangi's brother Rasad Pullewar, a resident of Nagpur, who is working as an advertising executive in a publishing house, while talking to mediapersons here, said Sarangi is determined to wait for Praveen's return and has decided to undergo the surgery for a gynaecological problem only after Praveen is released on parole.
He said in this regard, the family has decided to file a petition at the High Court, challenging the order passed by Nashik Jail authorities.
According to the Prisoners Act, a convict can be released on parole for a period ranging from 15 days to two months after completion of two years in jail.
