Bhubanseswar, Nov 10 (UNI) As many as 288 students of 30 High Schools who passed High School Certificate examination successfully, were presented cash award by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
As part of the corporate social responsibility,the RSP distributed Rs 8.90 lakh to the students from the peripheral villages at a small function in Rourkela today attended by teachers, students and their guardians.
Each boy and girl from these 30 High Schools who have secured the highest marks in their schools were presented with a cash award of Rs 5,000 each.
The second best marks holders among boys and girls got Rs 4,000 each while the third, fourth and fifth rank holders amongst them were presented with Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 cash prizes respectively.
RSP sources claimed that this was the first occasion in which such a large number of students from villages were awarded.
RSP Managing Director B N Singh who distributed the cash award hoped that such scholarships by the RSP would motivate the students to pursue their higher studies.
