Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 10 (UNI) A clash between two rival groups of students at RIMT-IET, Mandi Gobindgarh near here turned bloody and three students and a college security guard Mohinder Singh were seriously injured.
The students broke the window panes of the college building and also college buses.
The college management decided to close the college for two days.
As per reports, the incident happened at around 1500 hrs today when a group of students had heated exchange over a small issue.
The college authorities tried to pacify the students but the injured students alleged that when they were trying to resolve the matter, the college staff members including the Dean of the college fired in the air and attacked us.
After receiving the information, Amloh DSP and police from Amloh and Mandi Gobindgarh rushed to the college. The police admitted two students Manveer Singh Sidhu, B Tech, third year (Civil) and Doraha resident Amandeep Singh Sidhu of third year diploma (computer), in Civil Hospital here. A large number of the college students was also present in the hospital. While one Harpreet Singh a third year diploma student was admitted in other hospital.
Talking to mediapersons at Civil Hospital, Manveer and Harpreet alleged that they were innocent. They admitted that there was a clash between two groups in the college. They alleged that the college staff members have beaten them and even a shot was fired. They also alleged that they were attacked with sharp edged weapons.
The college management, however, denied that any shots were fired.
Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Kaustabh Sharma said that the situation was under control. He said the police would look into the complaint of the management and take further action.
