No need for CBI probe into Moddu Srinu killing: Home Minister
Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Denying any role of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy or his son Y Jaganmohan Reddy or Panchayat Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy in the killing of Moddu Seenu, main accused in the murder of TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, Home Minister K Jana Reddy today maintainted that there was no need for a probe by the CBI or a judicial inquiry.
However, if sought by opposition parties, the Government was ready to hand over the case to the CBI, he told a press conference here.
He directed the police to conduct a post mortem if the family members of Moddu Seenu pressed for the same.
Probes were being conducted by the Anantapur Superintendent of Police as also the Director General of Police(Prisons) in a transparent manner and every case need not be handed over to the CBI, he pointed out, adding that already the Government had placed under suspension two head wardens and two wardens and initiated action against supervisory staff too.
The opposition parties were only trying to ''tarnish'' the image of the Congress Government by unleashing a ''false propoganda'' against the ruling party with an ''ulterior political motive'' by creating suspicion in the minds of the public, he said.
On the other hand, co-prisoner Om prakash's wife had contested the local body elections on the TDP ticket in 1999, he said.
