Lt Purohit and 4 others taken to Nashik court

Mumbai, Nov 10: Ex-Army officer, Lt Purohit and four others suspected to be involved in Monday, Sep 29 Malegaon blasts, has been taken by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to Nashik to produce in the District and Sessions Court there, as their police remand expired on Monday, Nov 10. Before leaving for Nashik, the ATS officials took Sameer Kulkarni, Ramesh Upadhya (ex-Army Major), Ajay Rahirkar, Jagdish Mhatre and Rakesh Dhawade to King Edward Memorial Hospital at Parel in Central Mumbai.

Besides the five accused, police have arrested Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur (38), a former national executive secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and her two associates Shamlal Bhavar Sahu (42) and Shivnarayan Singh (36), on October 23, in connection with the blast.

They have also arrested a serving Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit. In all, nine people have been arrested in connection with the blast, which had claimed six lives and left several others injured.
