Chandigarh, Nov 10 (UNI) Orissa and Tamil Nadu collected full points against their rivals in the Group A quarter-final league matches of the 7th Girls Junior National Football Championship being conducted by the Haryana Football Association at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Gurgaon today.
Cluster I winners Orissa defeated Cluster V runners-up Jharkhand by 4-1 and Cluster VI champions Tamil Nadu blanked Cluster IV leaders Assam by 4-0.
Jharkhand put up a tough resistance against Orissa in the first half. However, their goal fell in the 31st minute when Thunki Mumda opened the Orissa account.
Despite trailing by first-half goal, Jharkhand continued to defend their goal with all their might. However, Orissa went all out midway through the second half and scored three more goals within a span of 16 minutes. Gomti Bara (58th), Srimati Shyam (63d) and Santosini Oram (72nd) added one goal each to the kitty of Orissa. In between Sthanti Padeya had restored parity for Jharkhand in the 42nd minute.
In the second quarter-final Group A encounter Tamil Nadu blasted Assam by 4-0. It was virtually a match between R Kalpana of Tamil Nadu and Assam. The Tamil Nadu striker Kalapna scored four goals, including a hat-trick. She started chasing her three-in-a-row feat in the third minute. She then struck in the 8th, 35th and 60th minutes to achieve the unique feat.
