Margao, Nov 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir respicted Goa on 260 for eight on the opening day of the four day Ranji trophy plate 'A' group cricket match at the MCC ground here today.

Captain's knock of 93 runs by Asnodkar, studded with 13 fours and a six, saved the Goan innings after initial collapse.

After winning the toss, Jammu and Kashmir opted to field.

The two opener batsmen, Sagun Kamat and captain Asnodkar played cautiously and made a partnership of 56 runs for opening wicket before Sagun Kamat was bowled by Pranav Mahajan on 20.

Later, hosts lost three quick wickets of top order batsmen, Sahil Dhuri (0), J Arun Kumar (13), Ajay Ratra (0). Advit Katkar joined captain Asnodkar and added 72 runs for the 5th wicket to raise their total to 142 for 5 before Advit was caught by Varum Kumar off a bowling of Raman Datta on 20.

Asnodkar, who was shaping well, lost his temperament and was out by Samir Kajaria off a bowling of Samiulha Beg on 93 when the total score was 160 for 6. Asnodkar fell short of 7 runs for his well deserved century. his 93 came off 179 balls and in 224 minutes.

After the captain's dismissal, Goa lost two more quick wickets of Shadab Jakati(18) and Saurab Bandekar (30). At stumps, Robin D'Souza(30) was giving company to Ryan Ninan(21) at 260 for 8.

For the vistors, medium Pacer Pranav Mahajan took three wickets while spinner Raman Datta took two wickets.
