New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's scheduled visit to Washington on November 13, a high-powered all-Party delegation of the Members of Parliament has left for the United States to interact with the aides of President-elect Barack Obama.
The delegation, including Ms Jaya Prada (Samajwadi Party), Ms Priya Dutt (Congress), Mr Anant Geetey (Shiv Sena), Mr Trichi Shiv (DMK), Mr Prahalad Joshi (BJP), Mr Sukhdev Paswan (BJP), Mr Vijay Bahugna (Congress) and Mr Jabir Hussain (Rashtriya Janata Dal), and two Congress leaders, will also visit New York to attend a meeting of a UN Committee.
The delegation will explain to Mr Obama's aides about India's efforts in Kashmir and the ongoing peace process with Pakistan, a member of the delegation said.
It will review the bilateral relations in view of the recently-signed Indo-US nuclear deal and discuss several issues including terrorism, human rights and the current financial crisis.
The External Affairs Ministry had organised a special briefing for the delegation on the issues to be raised at the UN and with Obama aides.
