Kuala Lumpur, Nov 10 (UNI) Indian women started their campaign on a winning note as they trounced Uzbekistan 3-1 in the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2009 qualifying round here.
In the Group B match last night, India was late in taking the lead in the first half as Yumlembam Premi Devi struck in the 32nd minute.
Their advantage was, however, neutralised by Selime Gugueva after just nine minutes. But after the lemon break, Indian girls thwarted the spirited challenge of their opponent and scored two late goals to wrap up the issue.
India's Elangbam Devi led the team once again when she scored in the 86th minute and Salam Rina Roy Devi also struck in time to put the finishing touches for a thumping victory.
