Hardoi, Nov 10 (UNI) Just two days after the transfer of the SP and three police inspectors here, the Uttar Pradesh government on the directions of the Election Commission today suspended Lonar police station in charge to avoid any irregularities in the Hardoi Assembly seat by-poll slated on November 15.
The suspension has been initiated against Ratipal Verma on the basis of the report submitted by the observor, official sources said.
The reason behind the move was, however, yet to be ascertained.
Earlier on November 8, the UP government had on the directions of the EC transferred Superintendent of Police (SP) of Hardoi Pradeep Chandra and replaced him by Ashok Kumar after the panel of officers was sent to the EC, the UP Chief Electoral Officer Anuj Kumar Vishnoi had then informed UNI. Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) had lodged a complaint in this regard demanding from EC to transfer the DM and the SP of Hardoi to ensure fair and free by-poll.
The by-election on Hardoi seat was necessitaed after former UP minister and SP leader Naresh Agarwal had resigned and joined the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Incidentally, his son is BSP candidate from the seat.
