Patiala, Nov 10 (UNI) The CBI Special Court today remanded Moga sex scam accused Barjinder Singh, son of Shiromani Akali Dal former minister Tota Singh, into 14-day Judicial custody.
Harminder Singh Madan, special Judge of CBI Punjab court, today sent Barjinder Singh to judicial custody after declining the Central Bureau of Investigation's request for two-day extension of his CBI custody which had expired today.
Barjinder had appeared before the CBI Court on November 7, which had sent him into 4-day CBI custody following the High Court ruling on November 6 stating that the CBI Court would decide about the issue of his custody.
While issuing the directions, the high court had reserved the verdict on the regular bail plea of Barjinder Singh to be pronounced on November 11.
Mr Tota Singh was also present outside the court.
The sex scandal involving police officials, local politicians, councillors and influential persons came to light in June, 2006 following reports in the media of Moga police extorting money in connivance with call girls.
