VLWs threaten mass leave from November 15 in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Nov 9 (UNI) Around three thousand Village Level Workers (VLW)today threatened to go on a mass leave from November 15, if their seven-point charter of demands were not met by then.
Nikhil Utkal Gramsevak Sangha General Secretary Ananta Charan Panda told newspersons here that the sangha decided to go on mass leave as the government was not paying any heed to their demand despite several appeals.
The demands included relief of the VLWs from the post of Panchat Executive Officers as per the direction of the Orissa High court on July 22 last year, removal of the anomalies in their pay scale, time-bound promotion and introduction of special cadre rule.
They also demanded a rise in conveyance allowance and the preparation of a gradation list.
