'Rural Relations' works towards making villages better
Pune, Nov 9 (UNI) ''India lives in its villages''-- the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi had said years ago and many organisations are still striving to bring prosperity into these villages.
One such organisation is ''Rural Relations'', floated by Pradeep Lokhande. It works towards providing necessary amenities and services such as water, power, education, sanitation and communication in villages of ten states of the country, including Maharashtra.
Now the organisation has come up with five new projects and the most important of them is ''Villages on laptop''.
Talking to UNI, Mr Lokhande said ''If you cannot go to villages, they will come to you on your laptop. Professionals shoot the sceneries of villages statewise and regionwise and upload them on the internet so that a glimpse of these beauties can be caught on the laptops.'' Another project of the organisation is ''Gyan-key'', commenced with an aim to supply books to secondary medium schools in villages so that they can have a library of their own. The books will be mainly concerning personality development. ''Our main thrust in the promotion of the library is to provide nearly 180-200 books that will cater to the needs of the students,'' Pradeep elaborated.
The organisation has also started a project to provide employment to the villagers in their own place.
