NTC to revive mills through scheme
Tirupati, Nov 9 (UNI) The Natinal Textile Corporation (NTC) is implementing Rs 4000 crore scheme to revive Mills in the country, its General Manager M M Chokkalingam has said.
Addressing a press conference here he said out of 32 cotton mills in the Sourthern Region, 16 were slated for revival, including five Mills on Joint venture (JV) basis.
As part of the revival through the JV route, the corporation has decided to modernize the Tirupati Cotton Mills which had improved its performance in the last two years on its own with increased capacity. A report was submitted to the Centre seeking financial assistance, he said.
The only mill in Andhra Pradesh, which is locted near Renigunta in Chittoor district, would be developed with state-of-the art Technology and Machinery, he said, adding there ws no other public sector manufacturing unit in the district. The mill primarily aims to meet best quality Hank Yarn requirement of the local market.
The comany also provides more employment to local people and Handloom weavers, he said.
