ULFA rebel, linkmen held, explosives seized
Tezpur, Nov 7 (UNI) A hardcore ULFA militant and two linkmen were arrested and some explosives seized from them in Sonitpur district, police said today.
A joint team of the CRPF and police nabbed the three people near Tezpur yesterday, when they were coming from Golaghat towards Tezpur. The ULFA cadre had been identified as Dhiraj Nath of the'27th battalion', while the other two were a brother-sister duo, who were carrying the ULFA cadre and the explosives in their vehicle.
Altogether, 8.994 kg TNT explosives, 15 rounds of cartridges of M20 pistol, cash, mobile handsets, extra SIM cards and extortion notes were recoevered from them.
The ULFA militant confessed to getting the explosives from a Karbi militant in Golaghat.
The explosives were expertly hidden in the body of the car, police added.
