New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Three people in a car were charred to death in a head-on collision with a dumper truck in Kapasheda area of South West Delhi early morning today.
All the three deceased were former Indian Navy personnel, said the police.
Soon after the collision, the car, fitted with a CNG cylinder, turned into a fireball leaving no room for the three occupants to escape.
The accident took place around 0100 hrs on Najafgarh-Bijwasan road, connecting Najafgarh and Kapasehda.
''The truck driver, who is yet to be identified, fled from the scene soon after but has been booked for rash and negligent driving.'' The dumper on way towards Najafgarh reportedly lost control, due to high speed, and also hit a motorcycle after hitting the car.
Both the injured riders of the motorbike have been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.
The three deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar (40), Devkaran and Jitendra.
While Pawan and Devkaran, sitting in front, died immediately, Jitendra succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The injured bikers have been identified as Parminder Kumar and Sonu - residents of Bhondsi and Palwal in Haryana.
Haling from Mahendragarh, Haryana, Pawan Kumar, had been working as an assistant engineer with a Gurgaon based firm and was living in Gurgaon's Ashok Vihar area.
The other two were his colleagues, police added.
