New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Former governor of Assam and J&K Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today described terrorism as the greatest danger before the country and said it must be fought with a strong political will.

Inaugurating the website on veteran party leader L K Advani on his 81st birthday at the party headquarters here, Gen Sinha said it was necessary that the fight against terrorism was fought above party lines and the parties must give up vote bank politics for it.

Addressing the function organised on the occasion, which was also attended by former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, he said several innocent people were becoming victims to the terrorist bullets but the government was not showing necessary will to fight the menace. It was a national problem and there should be no politicking on it, he said.

Describing Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam and separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir as the real danger to national security, Gen Sinha praised former J&K chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, describing him as a true nationalist and secularist.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Advani asked the partymen to convince the one million young electorate in the country to punish all their representatives who failed to come up to their expectations and did nothing for the country.

Mr Advani said there was a time when public meetings were the core medium of electioneering and the Opposition was finding difficult to send across their view because of the government-controlled radio. But the situation today had changed with the advent of electronic media and advancement in information technology, he said.

Party president Rajnath Singh described Mr Advani as technology savvy who had given the party a progressive ideology.
