Tension prevails following VCK, RSS activists clash in TN
Kancheepuram, Nov 8 (UNI) Tension prevailed in this temple town, when volunteers of the Left parties, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi(VCK) and activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) clashed at Orikkai, near here today.
Police said the volunteers of the Left parties and VCK objected to Bharathidasan Matriculation school offering facilities for a training camp for the RSS, when the clash broke out.
They staged a demonstration and questioned Arun Kumar of the school management, as how could he allow the RSS camp in the school premises, which was patronised by students of all religions.
Soon, RSS activists broke into an arguement and they started attacking each other with stones and logs, triggering tension.
Shopkeepers downed their shutters and parents had a horrible time in bringing back their children safe back home.
Police had a tough time in restoring normalcy. Later, they advised the school management to cancel the permission given to the training camp.
Left party local leaders Kamalanathan, Muthukumar, RSS leaders Mohana Raja, K T Raghavan and Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra azhagam (TMMK) leader Basha, were among those, who were injured in the incident.
