Former Minister M C Nanaiah, Mlc, speaking after inaugurating the new building of the Sangha, urged the government to re-introduce the 1976 Karnataka Agriculture Debt Relief Act to protect the lives of the farmers.

He said that the farmers and agriculturists are unable to escape from the clutches of private money lenders and reintroduction of the Karnataka Agriculturists Debt relief Act is the only answer to rid them of debts.

Appreciating that the farmers in the district are repaying loan promptly, Nanaiah said that grain banks which have decade's old history are the back bones of villages and society. He called upon the farmers to support them sincerely.
