Madikeri, Nov 8 (UNI) Karnataka State Marketing Federation Chairman G T Deve Gowda has regretted saying that too much political interference is hampereing the growth of cooperative movement in the State.
Speaking after inaugurating the Golden Jubilee of Bittangala Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha, at Virajpet yesterday, he said that " the Cooperative sector is not developing due to the interference of politics in it. Cooperative sector can thrive only if it was allowed to function independently.
Former Minister M C Nanaiah, Mlc, speaking after inaugurating the new building of the Sangha, urged the government to re-introduce the 1976 Karnataka Agriculture Debt Relief Act to protect the lives of the farmers.
He said that the farmers and agriculturists are unable to escape from the clutches of private money lenders and reintroduction of the Karnataka Agriculturists Debt relief Act is the only answer to rid them of debts.
Appreciating that the farmers in the district are repaying loan promptly, Nanaiah said that grain banks which have decade's old history are the back bones of villages and society. He called upon the farmers to support them sincerely.
