Nagpur, Nov 8 (UNI) Indian pace bowler Ishant Sharma today said they executed the plans made for the team and it paid of with us taking the first innings lead.
Speaking to the media after the third day's play, when India bowled out Australia for 355 to take a 86 runs first inning lead, Ishant Sharma said after yesterday when they scored a few quick runs we planned to build pressure on the batsmen by bowling to one side of the wicket and the plan worked.
The lanky pace bowler also said all the bowlers were given specific roles and all of us stuck to them.
''It feels really good when the tactics and strategy we have decided on works,'' he said.
Ishant Sharma, who took two wickets and bowled with a lot of purpose and fire today, said the team will not be playing for a draw but rather try and win the match.
''Any team always wants to win the match and all the efforts go into that direction. It is always better to win the series 2-0 than 1-0,'' he added.
The Delhi pacer also refuted comments that they had been negative.
''We were executing the plans we had worked out for today and they worked, I will not say that our tactics were negative.'' Ishant, to a question on whether they should have taken the new ball earlier as he struck immediately with it, replied that ''the whole series we have been picking up wickets with reverse swing, so we stuck to our strong point.''
