Congress describes JD(U) MPs' resignation as 'political drama'
Patna, Nov 8 (UNI) Ridiculing yesterday's en masse resignation of five Lok Sabha MPs of the JD(U), the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) today described it as ''nothing but a political drama''.
BPCC president Anil Sharma told newspersons here that instead of putting in their papers, the party could have demanded the expulsion of the Shiv Sena from the NDA of which the JD(U) was one of the main constituents.
He said the 'political drama', enacted by the JD(U), was also a futile attempt to extract some political mileage prior to the Lok Sabha election, which was only a few months away.
He charged the party with maintaining a ''double standard'' by deliberately going soft on the Shiv Sena despite its anti-Bihari rhethorics.
Mr Sharma felt that the people of Bihar would surely understand the gameplan of the ruling party here and give a befitting reply to it at the appropriate moment.
If the Chief Minister was sincere enough for a 'united protest' against the harassment of the Biharis by a section of people in Maharashtra, he could have easily convened another all party meeting before asking its MPs to resign en masse, Mr Sharma asserted.
