New Delhi, Nov 8: A day after serving Army officer Lt Col Srikant Prasad Purohit confessed to being the key conspirator in the Malegaon blasts, CBI officials on Friday, Nov 7 interrogated him on the role he played in the Nanded blasts in 2006.
Even as Lt Col Porohit confessed, 2 Army officials were picked up Maharashtra ATS squad for questioning. Though the names were not released it is suspected to be a Lt. Colonel of Madhya Pradesh and a Major. Sources said there is nothing yet to establish the culpability of the two new serving officers under the scanner. Sources also say that some more ex-armymen are likely to be questioned again.
And while the Army has said it is giving the ATS all cooperation, Defence Minister AK Antony is not yet ready to buy the ATS' claims. "Army is fully assisting and cooperating with the investigating agencies. We are waiting for the report from the Maharashtra Police," says Antony says
Lt Col Porohit will also undergo brain mapping and polygraph tests in the presence of military intelligence officers in the next couple of day.
