Andaman holds discussion on Draft Master Plan for Port Blair-2028
Port Blair, Nov 8 (UNI) The Andaman Administration hasthoroughly discussed the Draft Master Plan for Port Blair-2028.
The discussion focussed on planning, developmental issues and functional approach for development of the Port Blair city in a planned manner.
'' Since we have a plan now, we must strive to translate it into a reality for accelerating the pace of urban development in a planned manner,'' Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands said while addressing the meeting yesterday.
'' Though the challenge is huge, but by way of collective and coordinated efforts, we can move forward for better future of the Islands,'' he said, adding that to begin with all major projects in the master plan can be taken up on priority basis.
Mr Bhopinder Singh directed Andaman PWD to work in close coordination with other agencies for accomplishing the given task.
He also directed the authorities of PBMC and Zilla Parishad for ensuring that henceforth all violation of building by-laws is prevented.
Earlier, Prof S Ravi, Former Dean, School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University, Chennai made a presentation of the draft Master Plan for Port Blair-2028.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Chairperson, PBMC, Mrs S. Selvi, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, Ms Mariyam Bibi and senior civil and defence officers.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Bhopinder Singh.
