Ambala, Nov 7 (UNI) A housewife was allegedly killed by her husband and sister-in-law after her parents could not fulfil their demand of dowry at village Tepla under police station Saha today.
Father of the deceased Lakhwinder Singh, resident of village Sanghoa district, Karnal, alleged in his police complaint that he received information about his daughter Jasbir Kaur's death from her neighbour at about 2130 hrs last night.
He alleged that his daughter, married about 10 years ago, was continuously harassed and tortured by her husband and other in-laws who sought more dowry.
He stated that on their demand, he had given them a coloured TV and later a washing machine but now they had started demanding motorcycle or cash worth Rs 50,000 which he could not provide.
He further alleged that sister-in-law of Jasbir had reached her house yesterday and had joined her brother Mohan Singh in beating her up with sticks.
During the beating, she was hit with a stick at her head which proved fatal and she died instantaneously.
Post-mortem was conducted in the hospital today and dead body was handed over to family members.
The police registered a murder case under section 302/3 IPC against her husband Mohan Singh and his sister Bachan Kaur.
No arrest has been made so far.
