Wide scope for Indo-Belgium bilateral trade: Belgium Minister
Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Belgium foreign affairs minister Karel De Gucht today said there is tremendous scope for improvement of bilateral trade relations between his country and India.
Mr Gucht, who is on a visit to India along with Belgium King Albert II, told reporters that at present Belgium's exports to the country are worth five billion euroes and expected to rise further.
The purpose of the visit is to present a perfect image of Belgium to people here, he said.
Thomas Leysen, chairman of Federation of Enterprises in Belgium, said his country is the perfect destination for foreign direct investment, which had attracted USD 623 billion in 2006. Its geographical situation is ideal, therefore, it is called the heart of Europe.
Diamond trader Dilip Mehta, settled in Belgium, said the recession has affected the diamond industry to some extent and the industry is stable now.
