Ship building project at Dhamra by 2013

Bhubaneswar, Nov 07 (UNI) A Ship building project, jointly set up by the Apeejy Surendra Group and Bharati Shipyard, near Dhamara at an investment of Rs 900 crore will be completed by 2013.

Apjeey Surendra Group Chairman Karan Paul and Bharati Shipyard Managing Director Vijaya Kumar today met Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here to diccuss the necessary land, required for the project and other approvals to set up the plant.

Official sources said the first phase of the project involving Rs 400 crore would commence in 2009 to be completed in 2011, while the second and third phase with investment of Rs 200 crore each would be completed by 2013.

The Chief Minister directed the concerned department to expedite the necessary formalities for the project work as it would create huge employment opportunities in the state.

As many as 7000 people would be directly appointed in the project which would also create indirect employment to nearly 40,000 people.

On completion of the project,the state government would get an additional revenue of Rs.20 crore per annum, sources said.

Similarly, the Oceanic Shipyard Limited will invest another Rs 900 crore near Dhamara to establish a Oil rig manufacturing plant to be completed in three phases.

The project being labour-intensive would also create massive employment opportunities in the state.
