Rumours about Geelani's health create panic in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 7 (UNI) Hundreds of telephone calls were received by the media organisations in Srinagar following rumours of critical health of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, undergoing treatment at Mumbai.
However, family members of Mr Geelani told local media that he was recovering and there was nothing to worry.
They said rumours about his condition being critical were baseless.
Meanwhile, hundreds of telephone calls were made to different media organisation offices, including this office, asking about Mr Geelani's health.
A fruit dealer from Charar-e-Sharief said they had received a telepone call from Mumbai about Mr Geelani being critical.
The Hurriyat leader was rushed to Delhi where he underwent pacemaker replacement. However, he was later shifted to Mumbai's Tata memorial hospital for the treatment of his only kidney.
