Punjab Cong gives 'wake up' call to leaders

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) A meeting of the Congress MLAs and former legislators of Punjab was held here today to chalk out the party strategy for the coming Parliamentary elections.

The meeting, presided over by Punjab Pradesh Congress Commitee (PPCC) chief Mohinder Singh Kaypee, decided to constitute booth level committees in each Assembly constituency of the state.

The meeting also decided to set up primary committees in each polling booth on the recommendations of the MLAs of the concerned constituency and the constituency in-charge. These committees will be responsible for coordinating with the officials of election department for updating of electoral rolls as per directions of the Election Commission of India.

Mr Kaypee called upon the party leaders to activate the workers for the next Lok Sabha polls. He told them to educate the masses about the policies and programmes of the UPA government. He also told the party leaders to bring before the public the failures of the SAD-BJP government.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has held the state government responsible for the present financial crisis engulfing the state. She claimed that the SAD-BJP government had failed on every front.

In a statement issued here, Bhattal said the state government was already facing an acute financial crisis and in the coming months it would not have even a penny to pay salaries to its employees. She claimed that no developmental work was taking place in the state.

She claimed that the Congress would definately win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, considering the 'non performance' of the SAD-BJP government.
