Chennai, Nov 7: Passengers and crew members of an Air India flight to Mumbai had a miraculous escape on Friday, Nov 7 morning when one of the plane's tyres burst as it taxied down the runway for take off at the Kamaraj Domestic Airport here. According to airport sources, IC 971 Chennai-Mumbai Air India flight was about to take off at 0800 hrs with 92 passengers and five crew members when the tyre burst.
Noticing this, the pilot immediately alerted the Air Traffic Congrol (ATC).
Emergency teams rushed to the plane and the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
Technical teams inspected the plane's tyre and found that it needed change. Following this, a spare flight was arranged for the passengers. However, six of them refused to take up the offer fearing for safety and sought refund. The plane left for Mumbai at 0910 hrs with 86 passengers and the crew members.
