Miscreants attack puja organisers, 3 injured
Chandannagore, Hooghly, Nov 7 (UNI) Three people were injured, one of them critically, when miscreants attacked the organisers of a Jagadhatri Puja committee here early today.
Chandannagore police station Officer-in-charge Debashish Chattoraj told reporters that some miscreants had objected when the organisers of the 53-year-old Kanailal Palli community puja stopped playing loudspeakers late last night.
This morning the miscreants regrouped and attacked the organisers with bombs injuring Club Secretary Shyamal Dutta. They also fired at one Pradip Debnath. Another person sustained minor injuries.
Debnath was rushed to the Chandannagore Sub-divisional Hospital from where he was shifted to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, Mr Chattoraj said.
He said a case had been lodged and police posted in Kanailal Palli as tension prevailed in the area.
