Nagpur, Nov 7 (UNI) The 25-year-old Australian off-spinner Jason Krejza bowled himself into the record books, becoming only the sixth bowler in the history of the game to take eight wicket in an innings on his debut here today.
Krejza returned with figures of eight for 215 to restrict India to 441.
The young off spinner, who was ignored by the Australian team management for the first three Tests of this tour, was given a chance in the final Test here bowled himself into the record books with a fantastic 26-ball spell after lunch in which he gave away 16 runs and returned with wickets of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma.
The other bowlers who have taken eight wickets on their debut Tests are Australians A E Trott (8-43) against England at Adelaide in 1895, Bob Massie (8-53) against England at Leeds in 1972, India's Narendra Hirwani (8-61) against West Indies at Chennai in 1988, South African Lance Klusener (8-64) against India at Kolkata in 1996 and West Indian A L Valentine (8-104) against England at Manchester in 1950.
