JK: HM's top commander, OGW arrested
Jammu, Nov 7: A self-styled district commander of Hizb-ul Mujahideen (HM) was arrested in the north of hilly Kishtwar district while an over ground worker (OGW) of the militant outfit was also arrested in Rajouri, an Army spokesman on Friday, Nov 7 said. ''The HM commander, Ghulam Ali Malik alias Dr Kamaldin, 47, was apprehended by a column of Rashtriya Rifles at Navapachchi in north of Kishtwar,'' spokesman of Army's Udhampur-based Northern Command, Col D K Kachari told sources.
Dr Kamaldin was active in the militant activities since 1992.
His arrest is being considered as a major achievement in the counter-insurgency operations.
A joint team of Army and police arrested an OGW of HM at Kalakote in western district of Rajouri yesterday.
The OGW was identified as Maqbool Hussain, 30, son of Abdul Gaffar, resident of Telna.
He was later handed over to police after questioning, sources said.
