Shimla, Nov 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh governor Prabha Rau today stressed upon the need for environment preservation to save the planet from the adverse effects of climate change and called upon the scouts and guides to contribute towards environment protection besides serving the nation dedicatedly.
She was addressing the scouts and guides on the occasion of Flag Day, which is also the Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts and Guides in a function organized at Raj Bhawan here.
Mrs Rau said that scouts and guides were trained to serve the nation and society with dedication, which ensured overall development of their personalities and added that selfless service was the motto of the institution.
She said that 158 countries of the world were associated with it and added that this occasion was being celebrated in a befitting manner in Himachal Pradesh at Raj Bhawan since 2002. She appealed to the scouts and guides to extend their helping hand to the needy with sincerity, humility and in a responsible manner besides contributing constructively in nation building.
Earlier, the Governor also visited the flower exhibition put up by various local schools of Shimla and surrounding areas. The Governor presented memento on the occasion.
A rally was organized by the scouts and guides to spread the message of environment protection from Telegraph Office to Raj Bhawan.
