Lucknow, Nov 7 (UNI) The Qazi of Lucknow, Maulana Mufti Abdul Irfan Qadvi, has issued a fatwa against Dr Zakir Naik, the owner of Peace television channel, for supporting Osama Bin Laden on terrorism and asking the youths to join terrorism.

In the fatwa issued here yesterday, the Qazi has also demanded a ban on the Peace television channel and has asked the authorities to probe into the funds received by Dr Naik for his support to the terrorism.

The fatwa says that he should be treated as ' Kafir' and be debarred from the Muslim community.

Popular for his critical analysis of Islam and teachings of Quran, Dr Naik is an orator in Peace TV, an Islamic television. The 37-year-old medical professional is an Islamic scholar and is known to clear misconceptions about Islam through his lectures.

Earlier, the Deoband had also issued a similar fatwa against Dr Naik.

Talking to UNI here today, Maulana Qadvi said he had issued the fatwa following a demand from several clerics and Muslim people, who took strong exception on the role of Dr Naik for supporting terrorism and openly asking the youths to join it.

The fatwa added that the Peace TV preacher also supported Yazeed, who was a facist and had killed thousands of people in the battle field of Karbala.
