Shillong, Nov 7 (UNI) The BJP's youth wing today asked the Meghalaya government to legislate a stringent terror law to combat terrorism in the state.

In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Donkupar Roy, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) also impressed upon the government on the need to introduce multi-purpose identity cards to all the citizens of the country.

''Work permit system for every migrant is welcome to preserve the demographic contours of the state's indigenous people and migrant labourers,'' BJYM President H Marbaniang said.

The youth wing also suggested the coalition Meghalaya Progressive Alliance government, which includes one BJP legislator, to strengthen the existing border check gates at Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi district, Umkiang in Jaintia Hills district, Gausapara and Mahendraganj in West Garo Hills district.
