Jaipur, Nov 7 (UNI) The ruling BJP today urged Governor Shilendra Kumar Singh for an early nod to the Rajasthan Reservation Bill-2008, to pave way for grant of reservation under most backward category to Gujjars and three other castes and economically backward classes in unreserved higher castes.
A party delegation comprising party state President Om Prakash Mathur party Treasurer Ramdas Agrawal, Ministers Ghanshyam Tiwari, Nathu Singh Gurjar and Rajendra Singh Rathore and state General Secretary Madan Lal Saini met Mr Singh at the Raj Bhawan this afternoon to seek his approval to the Bill which is pending before him since July this year.
The ruling party leaders have conveyed to the Governor that beneficiary groups were unhappy over "delay" in the approval to the Bill.
The Bill passed by the Rajasthan Assembly during special session in July this year, legislates on the reservation to SCs, STs, OBCs and also provides 5 per cent reservation to Gujjars and 3 other castes under special most backward category and 14 per cent reservation to economically backward classes in unreserved higher castes.
The Gujjar Reservation Action Committee Convener Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla who has spearheaded the Gujjar agitation for reservation under ST category, had also met the Govenor a few days ago to urge for early clearance to the Bill.
