54 nominations filed on fourth day of nominations

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The process of filing nominations for the November 29 Assembly polls in Delhi picked up today with a total of 54 candidates filing their papers on the fourth day of filing of nominations, the Delhi election commission said.

Six BJP candidates and seven BSP candidates filed their papers.

Four candidates from the Nationalist Congress Party and two from the Lok Janashakti Party and three from the Samajwadi party also filed their nominations.

However, a majority of there were independents.

Among those who filed their nominations were BJP's Surya Prakash Khatri from Timarpur, Subhash Sachdeva from Moti Nagar and Naresh Gaur from Babarpur.

With today's nominations, the number of papers filed since the start of the process on November 4 has touched 83.

The process of filing nominations was set off with issuance of notification for the polls on November 4.

As per the notification, November 11 has been fixed as the last date for filing of nominations, scrutiny of which will be done on November 12.

The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is November 14.

Counting of votes will be done on December 8. The term of the present Legislative Assembly of Delhi expires on December 17.

The Opposition BJP has declared names of candidates for 53 assembly seats, while the ruling Congress today released a list of 48 candidates for the polls.
