Tiruchirapalli, Nov 6 (UNI) The Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, Tamil Nadu Government, G Santhanam said the Government would ensure that vendor units of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) were started here and its neighbouring districts to fulfill the company's outsourcing requirements.
Speaking at a function here yesteday, Mr Santhanam said the Centre was taking steps for formation of clusters to create common facility centres. Unused land of Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) and Small Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) would be identified for cluster formation of vendor units. Steps were also initiated to create a cluster on a 150- acre site belonging to SIPCOT in Manamadurai, he added.
He said the District Industries Centres here and in Thanjavur will depute an official to assist women entrepreneurs in setting up their engineering units as BHEL vendors on a cluster basis.
The department will facilitate the process with the concurrence of the BHEL, SIDCO and banks, he added.
