Mumbai, Nov 6 (UNI) A forensic expert today said Rahul Raj, a youth hailing from Patna in Bihar, who was killed in a police encounter here on October 27, was shot at by the city police from close range.
''Raj was gunned down from close range as a significant amount of gunpowder was found around the bullet injuries,'' said forensic expert Dr B G Chikhalkar, an associate professor J J Hospital, while talking to mediapersons here.
''When gunpowder is found surrounding the bullet injury, it is believed that the firing was done from close range,'' he said.
''The forensic experts have expressed doubts over one bullet injury which hit Raj. That bullet has been sent for further investigation, Dr Chikhalkar added.
However, he declined to divulge any details about the report and when he will submit it to the authority concerned.
Rahul Raj, who had come to the city on October 24 in search of a job, was gunned down by city police after he allegedly dried hijacking a BEST bus at gunpoint.
