Punjab Cabinet approves land acquisition for Wagah post
Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet approved the acquisition of land, measuring 120 acre, 3 kanal 16 marla in village Attari and Roranwala for setting up the Integrated Check Post at Attari-Wagah order in Amritsar district.
The meeting of the Cabinet held here this evening was chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
This project involves expansion of the existing Attari-Wagah check post following an increase in the flow of traffic and goods to and from Pakistan. The project also involves upgrading the existing facilities at the checkpost, both for the tourists and visitors who visit the border post for witnessing the immenesely popular Retreat Ceremony in the evenings.
This project will be undertaken by the central government with the Punjab government providing the land. A survey of the project has already been completed and a report in this context has been submitted to the central government.
