Ovet 124 lakh tonnes of paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) The five state agencies--Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Punjab Agro--have procured over 90 per cent of the total 124,33,568 tonnes of paddy procured in Punjab till yesterday.

Pungrain procured 34,31,103 tonnes of paddy, Markfed 26,42,438 tonnes of paddy, Punsup 25,82,173 tonnes, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 14,33,983 tonnes of paddy and Punjab Agro procured 12,00,682 tonnes of paddy by Wednesday.

The Central Government Agency FCI has procured only 1,98,108 tonnes of paddy, which is just 1.7 per cent of the total procurement, while the millers have procured 9,45,083 tonnes of paddy.

Ludhiana district with 15,32,283 tonnes of paddy is now leading in in procurement figures leaving behind Ferozepur district, which has procured 11,97,580 tonnes of paddy.
