Bangalore, Nov 6 (UNI) The Karnataka government today sanctioned 4.04 per cent additional dearness allowance to the government staff with effect from July 2008.
Briefing newspersons on the decisions taken by the State cabinet at its meeting today, Rural development Minister Shobha Karandlaje said this would result in a annual outgo of Rs 456 crore.
She said the cabinet congratulated the ISRO scientists who successfully launched the moon mission Chandrayaan-1 from Sriharikota last month.
The cabinet also decided to facilitate legendary carnatic vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who was conferred Bharat Ratna by the Union government, at Vidhana Soudha at a date to be decided later.
It also decided to celebrate Kanaka Jayanti, in memory of Saint Kanakadasa at the state capital, Udupi and his birth place Bada village in Shiggaon district on November 15.
The state government has declared a government holiday on that day.
The government would also take up development of airports on PPP basis in Bijapur, Gulbarga and Shimoga, she added.
