Guwahati, Nov 6 (UNI) The insurance companies, often criticised for their time-consuming verification processes in clearing insurance claims, today announced a help-line service to expedite claims of Assam serial blasts victims, with one of the victim's family already being handed over the money within a week.

Under the banner of Insurance Surveyor and Loss Assessors Northeastern Region (ISLA), they have already taken up the matter with all the major insurance players operating in the state, including United India Insurance, National Insurance, Oriental Insurance and the New India Assurance Company, informed ISLA president Kailash Sharma here today.

'' Even if someone does not have all the documents intact, we would try to help the person get his claim, provided he or she has some sort of record of the policy,'' he added.

One of the blast victims of the CJM campus blast here has already been handed over a Rs two lakh cheque under Personal Accident coverage of an insurance company yesterday, Mr Sharma said, adding that it was the fastest release of claim in the country.

The ISLA members informed that judging by the nature of the blasts, it is evident that most of the claims would come under polices like Motor Comprehensive Policy, Standard Fire and Special Peril Policy and Shopkeepers' Policy.

Options like Riot Strike Malicious Damage or Terrorist Damage are available with the Standard Fire and Special Peril Policy and Shopkeepers' Policy.
