Dhoni still at top, India at fifth in ODI Championship table

By Staff

Dubai, Nov 6 (UNI) India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is still leading the batting chart, while his team is currently lying at the fifth position in the ICC ODI Championship table released here today.

In the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen, Dhoni, who became full-time skipper for India in Tests after the retirement of Anil Kumble, has 793 points in his kitty and he is leading the One-Day international charts while his teammate Sachin Tendulkar is positioned at the eigth spot with 724 points.

Australian middle-order batsman Mike Hussey is at second spot with 776 points while South African skipper Graeme Smith is lying at third spot with 757 in the ODI batting chart.

Team India and New Zealand both have 113 points but when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point, Indian team is placed behind Kiwis at fifth spot.

Meanwhile, South Africa is currently sitting in the second place on 118 ratings points and to maintain that position, they will have to win the series 3-0 against Bangladesh. As South Africa enter the series leading Bangladesh by 71 rating points, it is expected to win convincingly and failure to win all the ODIs would cost it heavily.

The bowlers' list is still headed by Australia's Nathan Bracken with New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori in second spot and Mitchell Johnson, another Australian, in third.
